Each of these letters was written by a historical figure and each tell a story from their perspective written in their own words. Why did Alexander Hamilton decide to duel Aaron Burr? What did Beethoven feel when he started to lose his hearing? How did a letter from Einstein help start the Manhattan project? Our letters focus on important events in each authors lives to give you a front row seat on how they experienced them.
Letters come from all periods of history ranging from Rome to the English Revolution to the American Civil War and beyond. Our archives hold the letters of many types of characters such as: artists, inventors, rebels, Presidents, pioneers, and everything in between.
Letter Library tries to make each letter feel authentic by designing each letter to look as authentic as possible. And we use artificially aged paper so the paper doesn’t just look like antique paper, it feels that way too.
